Tyson's Corner Update

Welcome to Tysons.  Tysons lies between the community of McLean and the town of Vienna along the Capital Beltway (I-495).  It is the 12th largest employment center in the United States.  Tysons is the "downtown" of Fairfax County and is home to a wide range of employers, offering both office and retail space. The corporate headquarters of  Booz Allen Hamilton, MITRE Corporation, Capital One, Freddie Mac, Gannett Company, Hilton Worldwide, ITT Exelis, MicroStrategy, Primus Telecom, SAIC, Space Adventures, Spacenet, Sunrise Senior Living, and USA Today are located in Tysons.  Firms with offices in Tysons include BAE Systems, Compuware, Palantir Technologies, Ernst & Young, Northrop Grumman, PricewaterhouseCoopers. Xerox, and Vie de France.

Likewise, everyday thousands from around the region shop at  Tysons Corner Center and Tysons Galleria, which offer a wide variety of upscale shopping, dining, and entertainment.

In 2008, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to begin a 40 year plan to urbanize Tysons around the coming stops of Washington Metro's Silver Line to the area.  The Silver Line has two primary goals. The first is to link Washington, D.C. by rail to Washington Dulles International Airport and the edge cities of Tysons Corner, Reston, Herndon, and Ashburn. The second is to spur urban development in Tysons and reduce overall reliance on highway traffic in the business district.  As people continue to take up residence right here in Tysons, limiting or reducing their commute, we are well on our way to creating a community where people live, work and play.
